A Feather in Her Cap

The theme at Sunday Postcard Art is HATS.  This vintage photo is either someone related to me somehow or a friend of someone related to me.  When I came across it in the family photos, I thought the long narrow shape was unusual and that it would be a fun photo to play with.  The hat doesn't seem all that clear, but it's there and it has a feather on it.  Actually, two feathers.  So I couldn't resist pointing it out and creating a collage with the photo.  She's quite proud of her accomplishment...whatever it may have been.

I'm happy to send this postcard off to someone who would like to find it in their mail.  Speak up.

Good Mail Day!

Girls Wanna

I've been watching the Sunday Postcard Art themes for a couple of months, hoping to squeeze out some arty time if a theme struck my fancy.  Mostly it's been lack of time keeping me away from my play space.

But this week, the Anything Goes theme had me pulling out all my unfinished postcards to see which one I could finish.

These girls were already stamped on the blank postcard.

I colored them in, drew them a tall bench to sit on, inked the background and stamped the checked edges.  "GIRLS" is from a roll of alphabet Washi Tape.  I cut apart the letters to spell the word.   "just wanna have fun" is typed with a label maker and inked, then trimed for size.  "Girls just wanna have fun" is an old motto of mine that I just wanna get back to.

Thank you for visiting.  Now go have some fun!

Music Postcard

The theme this week at Sunday Postcard Art is

Music

I've had some postcard backgrounds started that have not found their direction yet.  When I saw the postcard challenge theme of music for this week, this background suddenly found direction.

Sunday Postcard Art - Coffee Time

Heavenly Morning!

This week's theme at Sunday Postcard Art is Coffee Time.

The background is 7gypsies scrapbook paper printed to fabric, the cup is cut from a package of fun size m&ms, the bird is rubber stamped (no identification on the stamp).  I wrote the words with a Gelly Roll Fine pen.

This would be an ideal morning, wouldn't you say?

Sunday Postcard Art - Blue/Silver

View From the Stars
this week the theme for the
Sunday Postcard Art Challenge is
Blue and Silver

Since Christmas wrap is still surrounding me in my studio space, I thought it might be fun to see how some of this silver star wire garland would play out on a postcard.  The card is also top stitched with silver metallic thread.  The rubber stamp is by Hampton Art.

I have two postcards now needing homes.  This one, (which would need to travel inside an envelope for I fear there'd be no stars upon it's naked arrival), and these

Desert Flowers ...

...that see all with their googlie eye centers.  (I might suggest an envelope for this one as well.  Googlie eyes are pretty tough, but maybe not as tough as our postal workers).

This postcard, # Man

arrived at his destination naked with no flower for his new owner and no shoes as well a couple of joints missing.  This was my very first sad experience with mailing a naked postcard.

Sunday Postcard Art

Ravens
this week's design challenge at
A blog of weekly postcard theme challenges

The Raven
The background is printed fabric from a digital collage sheet by Digital Collage Sheets.com, the leaf is from a silk fall arrangement and is floating.  Held in place by the stitching on the branch and the raven.

Ravens and crows and blackbirds all fall into the same bird box to me.  I love them for Halloween and Fall decorating, but the real things can be pretty annoying at times.

The artists participating in these challenges are mostly paper crafters and digital design crafters.  But all mediums are welcome, so I couldn't resists participating this week since I've been playing around with Halloween/Fall birds lately.

Autumn Day was traded to Sandra.  She is known as ladyinblack1964 on Flickr.

Blackbird In Fall is still traveling through our postal system to a surprise recipient.

Happy Fall
